"Leading Digital Transformation Now—No Matter What Business You’re In"

Tuesday, September 30
8:00 - 8:30am
Moscone North Hall D

Dr. Didier Bonnet
Senior Vice President & Global Practice Leader, Capgemini Consulting

If you think the phrase “digital transformation” is Silicon Valley hype or only relevant for other industries like tech, software,or media—think again. In fact, mobile, analytics, social media, sensors, and cloud computing have already fundamentally changed the entire business landscape as we know it—including your own industry. The problem is that most accounts of digital business transformation focus on start-ups and tech companies. But what about the other 90-plus percent of the economy?

In this keynote session, Dr. Didier Bonnet, Capgemini Consulting’s global head of digital transformation and coauthor (with MIT’s George Westerman and Andrew McAfee) of the upcoming book Leading Digital, will highlight how large companies in traditional industries—from finance to manufacturing to pharmaceuticals—are using digital to gain strategic advantage. Bonnet will also highlight the principles and practices that lead to successful digital transformation based on a two-part framework: where to invest in digital capabilities, and how to lead the transformation. This session is a must-attend if you want to help your organization survive and thrive in the new, digitally powered, global economy.

When our production system is having a performance problem, we have to diagnose what’s going on. Using a standard tool such as a profiler can often affect the production system and cause it to be slower or even go down. This practice hands-on lab shows a real production example of how we can measure, diagnose, find, and fix a problem with slow enterprise Java application response. All of this can happen without a big negative impact on the production system. Measurement activities shown in the lab are based on the open source tool Zorka, which can be a good tool for fixing production problems. Samples presented are taken from a BPM production system.

Cross-site request forgery (CSRF) is a type of attack that forces end users to execute unwanted actions on a web application in which they are currently authenticated. It is currently the fifth-most-risky attack in the OWASP Top 10. “If you have not taken specific steps to mitigate the risks of CSRF attacks, your applications are most likely vulnerable,” says expert Chris Schiflett.

This presentation provides Java professionals  an anatomy of CSRF in Java web applications and answers how to avoid this in new Java applications with a secure design approach and also discusses how to remediate this issue in business-critical legacy Java web applications without redesigning them. This presentation includes a demo of the vulnerability and the remediation approach.
